Book Review: Tropical Kiss or Miss

Happy Wednesday, reader friends! Today I’m delighted to share with you my review of Tropical Kiss or Miss (Tropical Kisses #1) by Liwen Y. Ho! I so enjoyed this fantastic novella! Be sure to check out this awesome story!

About the Book

Therapist Olivia Chan can’t wait to escape it all—a failed marriage, a struggling practice, and her son Micah’s recent health scare. The Hawaiian getaway she planned, however, gets rained on—quite literally—by a tropical storm and the unexpected arrival of her estranged husband Matthew, who’s determined to win her back.

Forced to confront the past, will Olivia and Matt learn to love again? The fear of rejection is great, but God’s grace is greater. With the help of their son’s prayers, this marriage might just weather life’s storms and come out for the better.

A Christian romance novella from the Amazon bestselling Kisses, Kids and Bundles of Joy boxed set, now with a never-before-published bonus scene from Olivia and Matt’s college days!

My Thoughts:

What a beautiful second chance romance, and marriage reconciliation story!
I’ve read and loved several of Liwen Y. Ho’s books and she is fast becoming one of my favorite authors! I absolutely loved this story! Matt and Olivia were such great characters, I loved them from the first scene on and I was rooting for them through the whole story! I also loved Micah, and the last chapter from his POV was absolutely darling!
This awesome story is told through flash backs and flash forwards, and while it took me a few minutes to get used to this storytelling style, as soon as I did I fell in love with it, it was perfect for this story and brilliantly written!
I loved this story from beginning to end and can’t wait to read Tropical Kiss and Tell (as well as the rest of Liwen’s backlist!)
I highly recommend Tropical Kiss or Miss! If you’re looking for an excellent quick-read romance that is full of depth, heart, and hope then this is just the right book for you!
(5 Stars!)

I grabbed this book when it was a free download on Kindle and read it for the pure pleasure of reading. No review required!

Book Review: Beyond Repair

Happy Monday, friends! Today I am thrilled to share my thoughts about Beyond Repair by Rose Fresquez. Beyond Repair is the third book in Rose Fresquez’s Eron Outsiders series.

Have you read any books by Rose Fresquez yet?

Her past is a string of bad choices. Is falling for a wanted ex-gang member one more?

Hiding from her troubled past, Jules Demski sequesters herself in the mountains of Eron, Colorado, the only place she’s ever felt safe. Her solitude is shattered when an injured man staggers into her family’s barn.

Burned once and still in repair, the last thing she needs is another criminal on her hands. If she can only convince her heart of this, she just might be able to resist the interloper’s charm.

Former gangster Lorenzo Macedo has cleaned up his act, but now he’s

running for his life. He stumbles upon a barn just as a bullet pierces his body.

Jules appears standoffish and cold, but the tender way she nurses Lorenzo reveals a soft-hearted, passionate woman aching for her own wounds to be healed. No woman has ever set his blood on fire like Jules, but he has nothing to offer her except a life on the run.

Can Jules and Lorenzo find redemption in the small town, or are their lives Beyond Repair?

“Let’s trust that God has forgiven us – given us another chance to do things right.”  “Another chance,” she whispered, nodding.  “Broken, but not beyond repair.”

Beyond Repair, the third installment in author Rose Fresquez’s Eron Outsiders series, is a beautiful tale of redemption, forgiveness, and discovering God’s constant grace.  This novel can easily be read as a standalone novel, but after reading Beyond Repair, now I want to go back and read the first two books in the series!

Rose Fresquez creates a realistic storyline of an ex-gang member who is ready for a fresh start after being released from prison, but finds himself in harm’s way after his former gang tries to force him back into that dangerous and criminal lifestyle.  Although I personally wouldn’t be trusting enough to let a stranger stay in my house after being shot, especially after finding out that he had been previously in jail, I truly appreciated the heroine Jules’ determination to nurse Lorenzo back to health, and Lorenzo’s honesty and desire for repentance of his past sins.

I am so glad that I discovered Rose Fresquez’s books earlier this year. I love the diversity of her characters and her sweet small-town Christian romances. If you haven’t read any books by Rose Fresquez yet, this is the perfect opportunity!

Beyond Repair is recommended for readers of inspirational contemporary romance.

Rose Fresquez is a stay-at-home mom, with a husband and four kids. In her free time, she likes to spend time outdoors with the family, sing gospel music and plotting her next writing project.

Rose’s writing projects include both Christian non-fiction and Christian fiction.

Book Review: Jocelyn

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I’m thrilled to be sharing with you my review of Jocelyn (Sewing in SoCal #2) by Sarah Monzon! This book is amazing, I absolutely loved it! Jocelyn is NOW AVAILABLE in paperback, Kindle, and on Kindle Unlimited, be sure to check it out!

About the Book

WWSOD—What would Scarlett O’Hara do?
Anything to survive, that’s what. But instead of a man-eating Southern belle in hoop skirts and big hats, my version of existence looks an awful lot like a financial conglomerate employee staring blankly at budget analysis spreadsheets. Either way, the motto has served me well most my life. Until now, that is. The corporate retreat location has just been announced, and this city girl is headed to a dude ranch in the country. How will Scarlett help me survive that? No, this time I’ll turn to the sage advice of preteen YouTubers and their ponies to keep me from making a fool of myself.
But who’s going to help me navigate the kind yet reticent cowboy in the black Stetson—the cattle ranch owner who’s slowly claiming corners of my heart?

My Thoughts:

Wow! What a fantastic second installment in the Sewing in SoCal series! Sarah Monzon is one of my all time favorite authors, and I adored the first in this series, Molly! After meeting Jocelyn in the first book I was super excited when I found out her book would be next, and as soon as I first read the description of this story I knew it would be right up my alley, I grew up around cows, and I’ve been riding horses since I was a young child, and I love reading stories that feature a farm or ranch setting. I loved Jocelyn, I so admired her determination, and her heart for others. It was a joy to watch her find her way to the kind of life she’d always dreamed of. I wish she were real because I would love to be friends with her!And Malachi! Oh My Swoon, what a fantastic hero! I love him so much and he will always have a spot on my list of favorite Book Boyfriends! I loved his genuineness and his kind heart that always puts others first!I seriously have such a huge crush on him! It was such a joy to watch Jocelyn and Malachi’s relationship bloom, and I especially loved all their text message conversations! Jocelyn is a funny, highly entertaining, empathy building, and thought-provoking gem that I totally and completely loved! I most highly recommend Jocelyn (get it ASAP!) and cannot wait to read book 3 in the series, Nicole! (5 Stars!)

Book Review: Backlash

Happy Monday, friends! Today I am thrilled to share my thoughts about Backlash by Rachel Dylan, who is one of my favorite romantic suspense authors. Backlash is the second book in Rachel Dylan’s Capital Intrigue series and releases tomorrow October 6th.

First of all, look at that gorgeous cover! This is my favorite cover of Rachel Dylan’s and it depicts CIA anaylst Layla Karam, the half Lebanese heroine, exactly as I imagined her. Rachel Dylan created a perfectly blend of romance and suspense and gives us another wonderful hero and heroine to root for. Backlash will definitely be on my list of top 10 books of 2020.

Have you read any books by Rachel Dylan yet?

With a target on her back, she’s determined to find answers.
But can she escape the deadly backlash?

CIA analyst Layla Karam is thrust into a dangerous DEA field operation against a cartel, and after one of her team members is murdered because of fallout from the op, Layla is left scrambling to find safety.

At the same time, the CIA opens an internal investigation against her. Out of options, Layla turns to ex-boyfriend and private investigator Hunter McCoy for help finding out who might want to ruin her career.

Layla and Hunter soon discover that a mole inside the DEA has sold out

the team’s identity to the cartel. She needs to clear her name with the Agency in order to protect herself and her teammates from cartel retaliation. With threats on all sides, Layla must put her trust in Hunter–the man who broke her heart–and hope they both come out of it alive.

For those who are content sensitive: this book contains non-graphic scenes and descriptions of physical and sexual assault.

“You have the perfect motive for murder.”

With intense action and incredible plot twists, Backlash is a fascinating tale of deception, friendship, and discovering a second chance at romance. In the second installment of author Rachel Dylan’s Capital Intrigue series, she once again delivers a perfect blend of romance and suspense to keep my romance-loving heart happy, and of course, another fabulous hero in Hunter McCoy.

After a devastating end to their relationship five years earlier, CIA Analyst Layla Karam must work together with her ex-boyfriend, private investigator Hunter McCoy, to discover who is targeting her team members and seeking retaliation. The friendship between Layla, Bailey, and Vivian…three women who became friends at Georgetown Law and found careers in different government agencies… and their new friend NCIS agent Izzy Cole is heartwarming. In their stressful and dangerous lines of work, they are blessed with each other’s friendship, trust, and support.

In one of the novel’s secondary storylines, Rachel Dylan portrays difficult topics that are extremely relevant in today’s society, including physical and sexual assault, in an appropriate manner, while opening up a dialogue for people to have needed conversations regarding these serious issues. Through the various characters’ struggles and pain throughout the novel, Rachel Dylan intricately weaves beautiful messages of faith into the storyline, which gives readers hope for the future.

Backlash is highly recommended for readers of romantic suspense, especially those who enjoy books by authors such as Lynette Eason, Lynn H. Blackburn, Irene Hannon, and Dani Pettrey. Backlash will definitely be one of my top reads of the year. I can’t wait to see what Rachel Dylan has in store for readers in Power Play, book three in the Capital Intrigue series, which releases in May 2021.

You had my heart all those years, Layla, and you still have it completely.”

“God’s there even when we think we can’t feel Him or hear Him. Sometimes it may just be a whisper in the wind or a beautiful sunrise, and that’s all it takes to remind me that the Lord is so much bigger than us. Than this earth. Than our lives. He is everything and everywhere while at the same time He cares about each of us.”

Rachel Dylan ( is an award-winning and bestselling author of legal thrillers and romantic suspense. Rachel has practiced law for over a decade, including being a litigator at one of the nation’s top law firms. Her Atlanta Justice series has won the Holt Medallion, the Maggie Award, and the FHL Reader’s Choice Award. Rachel lives in Michigan with her husband and five furkids–two dogs and three cats.

C.D. Gill is a new-to-me author. I truly enjoyed reading Undefeated, which has suspense in it. Gia has some skeletons in her closet but also knows how to protect herself and is determined to make her own way into the world, even though she comes from a wealthy family. Xander, without his family’s support, has been released from prison and is looking for answers to prove his innocence. I adore their growing relationship with each other as they work together to find the answers to whoever framed Xander and who is trying to destroy Gia’s new life she is building. I’m looking forward to reading more of C.D. Gill’s books.

I received a complimentary copy of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

As most authors, I have been writing since I was a little girl. Stories and ideas were written on any type of scrap paper that made its way into my clutches.  Aside from the folders filled with such papers, spiral-bound notebooks could be found strewn about the house with a range of stories from fanciful fiction to autobiography. I had written the first chapter of a fanciful fiction story about the adventures of pants and pantyhose long before Pixar came out with “Toy Story” and “Cars.” My story was similar to “Homeward Bound,” just with a textile twist. What can I say? My overactive imagination was ahead of the curve.

My imagination has matured, and I now have the attention span to sit down and flesh out a story idea before starting another one. My inspiration comes in many forms, but Jesus, travel, cultures, languages, and justice are passions of mine that I love to study and pursue.

There’s a big wide world out there beyond what I have seen. There are stories that deserve a spotlight and lessons we can learn, if not through experience then through fiction. Join me in exploring places, hearing stories, and meeting people that will change our path forever!

Book Review: The Price of Dreams

Happy Monday, friends! Today I wanted to share my thoughts about The Price of Dreams. This is the third book in Toni Shiloh’s new Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune. This fabulous book releases tomorrow August 18th. Happy Reading!

Ballet has always been my life, but one terrible moment may have destroyed everything I’ve worked so hard for—especially my title of Octavia Ricci, principal ballerina. I thought for sure my physical therapist, Dr. Noah Wright, could help me obtain my dream once more, but he wants more than I’m prepared to give.

I’ve seen firsthand the trials of interracial relationships. I’m a product of one myself and promised I’d never put my hopefully-someday kids through that drama. Everyone keeps telling me to let go of other people’s expectations, but I’m just not sure I can. Besides, if my dreams of returning to ballet are futile, what hope is there in seeking unconditional love?

The Price of Dreams is the third and final book in the Christian Chick Lit series: Faith & Fortune.

Striving for perfection, for the dream of ballet had left me without anyone to share my accomplishments with.  Sure, I had my family and friends, but no one who was just mine.  It was hard to see what the price of my dream truly was.”

The Price of Dreams is the third book in Toni Shiloh’s new Christian Chick Lit series, Faith & Fortune. Although this book could be read as a standalone, it is recommended that the Faith & Fortune series be read in order, starting with The Trouble With Love, since the characters and storylines continue throughout the series.

In The Price of Dreams, principal ballerina Octavia Ricci’s devastating injury may have ended her ballet career.  With the help of physical therapist Dr. Noah Wright, Tavia is determined not to let her injury sideline her forever as sparks begin to fly between the two.
The Price of Dreams deals with topics that continue to remain relevant in today’s society, such as the struggles of interracial relationships and the acceptance of those relationships or lack thereof from family and society as a whole.  Tavia’s experiences growing up with an African American mother and a white Italian father showed her the difficulties of interracial relationships at a very young age.  Through the characters’ struggles, Toni Shiloh beautifully incorporated faith elements in to the storyline.

The friendly banter between Noah and Tavia was so entertaining to read, and I loved the bits of humor throughout the book. Toni Shiloh’s characters are so well developed and seem real to me.  I wish I could be friends with Holiday, Tori, and Octavia and be a fourth roommate in their townhouse.  Although I loved all of Toni Shiloh’s books, this series is definitely my favorite of hers!

The Price of Dreams is highly recommended for readers of inspirational fiction. If you haven’t read this series yet, you need to add it to your TBR list right away!

“It’s one of the reasons I love being a Christian – the chance to drop all labels and just be a child of God.”
